Green plastic bottles pose significant challenges in the recycling chain primarily due to their colour. The use of coloured polyethylene terephthalate (PET) makes it difficult to recycle these bottles into high-quality products. Many recycling facilities prefer clear or transparent plastics because they yield higher-quality recyclates suitable for food-grade applications. Green PET is often downgraded to lower-value products, which complicates the recycling process and increases waste.

RPSF stands for Recycled Polyester Staple Fiber. It is a type of fiber made from recycled plastic, primarily PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles, which are processed to create high-quality fibers used in various applications like clothing, upholstery, and insulation. The production of RPSF helps reduce plastic waste and is considered a more sustainable alternative to virgin polyester, as it consumes fewer resources and minimises environmental impact.

Recycled Polyester Staple Fiber (RPSF) is made from recycled PET plastic, reducing waste and resource use, while Virgin Polyester Staple Fiber is produced from new petrochemical materials. RPSF has a lower environmental impact compared to Virgin Polyester.
